Our next stop was Miami FL, staying for 5 nights at Larry & Penny Thompson Memorial Park and Campground.
From there we did three excursions. The first was to the Shark Valley Visitor Center in Everglades National Park. We took a 9 AM tram tour through part of the Everglades and saw an amazing array of crocodiles.
We also saw lots of birds on the tour, but the two pictures following were taken just off the parking lot!
The second excursion was to Coral Castle. Edward Leedskalnin built the castle himself out of huge coral blocks which he quarried, transported and arranged using hand tools and a system of levers and pulleys.
It was fun spotting lizards on the blocks.
Our final excursion was to Matheson Hammock Park where we could see the city of Miami across Biscayne Bay, And where Ray, at last, could enjoy a warm, sunny beach.
