We drove to Indian Point RV Resort in Gautier and was given an overflow site for one day.
We decided not to move after we saw the view from the back window.

That night we found Hucks Bar and Marina. a neat little place that warns customers not to feed the alligators.
Jesse, our bartender, showed us an album of the bar after Katrina—the damage and restoration. He also told us about his staying in Biloxi during the hurricane. His stories were of people helping people—interesting and uplifting.
We made two excursions, one was to Biloxi where we drove by the Katrina Tree Sculptures and ate at Mary Mahoney’s, an upscale French restaurant with great food and an amazing oak tree.
Scultptures like the one above and the two below were made from dead trees. The salt water storm surge from Katrina killed their roots.
The restaurant is the building behind the tree.
The second excursion was to Pascagoula. We visited the Scranton Nature Center and viewed snakes, baby alligators and 6 month old peahens (one of which wanted to eat Ray’s ring).
We then went to a city park, picnicked across the street on a very large pier and walked along the beach.

Exploring the beach
We found what might have been balloons, or perhaps jellyfish, washed ashore. What do you think?
Finally, we wanted to tour the Spanish Fort but it was closed due to hurricane damage. We did, however, get a chance to wander through the adjacent cemetery. Ray was fascinated.
